Welcome to the Pfannenstielhof

Wir streifen durch die Pergeln und freuen uns über die gesunden Trauben, die von Sonnenstrahlen und Wind "gestreichelt" werden.

The Pfannenstielhof, first mentioned in documents in 1561, nestles amidst vineyards on the eastern margins of the Bolzano valley bowl and has for some 200 years been in the hands of the Pfeifer family.

We have chosen a natural and organic form of cultivation that includes careful intervention by hand for the winter pruning, trimming, grape selection and harvest.

Pick a special occasion to taste and acquire these wines directly from our farm, where there is usually someone ready to welcome you, although it is recommended that you notify us beforehand of your visit.

Cellar

Our ancient wine cellars are where we transform the valuable berries that have ripened for months in the vineyards into fine quality wines, typical of their location and variety, with their marked authenticity and individual character.

The character of the wine that we produce is already contained within the grapes themselves, which capture the specific composition of the soil; we conserve and emphasise these aspects in the cellar, with scrupulous attention to detail, exalting their qualities and unique features.

Location

Most of our vineyards are located around the Pfannenstielhof, on the eastern margins of the Bolzano valley bowl.
The Santa Maddalena is cultivated in the classic area of the same name above the farm, on soils composed of moraine detritus of porphyry and dolomite, very airy and well placed to gather heat. The grapes that are pressed into the Lagrein “vom Boden” and Lagrein “Riserva” wines on the other hand ripen on a deep-lying, warm and very airy deposit of sand and gravel near the Eisack River.
Finally, the Pinot Nero grows at Pianizza near Caldaro, on chalky-gravel soil on a west-facing slope at an altitude of 500 metres.

We are particularly bound to the soil on which our vines grow and wish to gain the very best from it. We believe that it is our duty to gather the uniqueness of the land and manifest this in wines that are typical of the qualities of their location and variety, marked with authenticity and individual character.
